REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the VPIS/CNIO will play a strategic role in leading the clinical applications strategy and optimization across the enterprise. The incoming VPIS/CNIO will be responsible for the assessment of the existing clinical systems environment and will identify and implement innovative strategies that align with the overall mission and priorities of Cincinnati Children's. The VPIS/CNIO will also have a matrixed reporting relationship to the Senior Vice President, Patient Services and will serve as the primary liaison between IS and key stakeholders within the organization, including nursing and allied health professionals. Critical areas of focus for the VPIS/CNIO will be developing a structure and operational plan to support an ambitious geographic and service line expansion and to lead optimization of the electronic health record (EHR) to positively impact quality, safety and care for patients.

The ideal candidate will be a nursing executive with a proven track record of leading clinical applications and supporting nursing informatics in a complex health system. This role requires a thoughtful and strategic leader who effectively builds bridges and can eliminate siloes. The VPIS/CNIO should bring a passion for healthcare and technology, along with a drive to continue making improvements in support of providing the best possible patient care at the bedside and beyond.

Position Summary
The Vice President, Information Services and Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (VPIS/CNIO) will be responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial and human resource-related activities of the Cincinnati Children's clinical applications and nursing informatics teams. This will include developing and driving the clinical applications roadmap and a nursing informatics strategic plan for the team in alignment with the goals and objectives of Cincinnati Children's.
The VPIS/CNIO will also serve as a strategic advisor and partner to Patient Services leadership on clinical information systems and system integration strategy.

The VPIS/CNIO will also serve in strategic partnership with the CMIO and CRIO to further informatics across the enterprise.
Reporting Relationships.Reporting to the Senior Vice President and CIO with a matrixed reporting relationship to the Senior Vice President, Patient Services, the VPIS/CNIO will lead a team of approximately 150 FTEs. In addition, the VPIS/CNIO will drive enterprise initiatives and lead multiple cross-functional team

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:
Bachelor's degree in nursing as well as a Master's degree in Nursing, Nursing Informatics, Healthcare or Business Administration or related field.

Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible management experience, including five years of informatics leadership experience; preferably, in a complex academic healthcare organization. Demonstrated ability to interpret technology and market trends as a foundation for technology and product roadmaps; experience with industry benchmarks
