Temporary Digital Content Specialist (Part-Time/Remote)

Expected Starting Salary: Approximately 75K

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide digital content specialist services, helping to manage & execute rebuild, review, launch, and management of 20 interconnected website for the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network, as well as decommissioning of old sites. Services to include:
  • Execution of change and new content requests
  • Basic front-end development in Drupal 9 content management system as needed
  • Maintenance of data in Django web content database
  • Support for site review, update, and approval processes
  • Support for go-live process
  • Monitor website ticket queue and respond to tickets. Implement changes and write, copy edit, and post new content as needed.
  • Help ensure and improve accessibility of web content to meet level AA of theWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements in existing and new content to ensure it is 1) audience-focused; 2) written in plain language; 3) search engine/accessibility optimized and 4) optimized within the new RDCRN ecosystem.
  • Train consortia teams on website update procedures and develop user guidance for distributed web editors.
  • Help develop procedures to assess site performance, including analytics reporting, SEO practices, link analysis.
  • Assist in planning for future efforts:
    • Site improvements, including website 2.0 projects.
    • Updates/onboarding of new sites for next grant cycle
    • Website treatments for "alumni" consortia and decommissioning of consortia sites as needed.
  • Participate in weekly web team meetings and other meetings as needed.


The successful candidate will need to:

Exercise sound judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to balance consortia goals within established RDCRN website templates/functionality

Raise problems/issues for consideration and resolution to supervisor and technical teams

Show flexibility and adaptability with consortia-based clients, effectively translating technical or complex concepts into lay language that matches the client's knowledge or engagement level.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

Bachelor's Degree or five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement

One (1) year of experience in web content creation and management.

Knowledge of HyperText Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance.

Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator), graphic design skills
