Psychometrist I - Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To become familiar with and increase knowledge of standardized psychological test batteries, evaluating children's cognitive, academic and behavioral status.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Administer pediatric psychological tests: Competent is administering all the most commonly administered IQ and Achievement tests. When standardized testing is not possible, evaluate the patient's level of functioning by engaging in constructive play situations.

2. Score pediatric psychological tests: Score all tests accurately and in the timeframe specified by the Division.

3. Effectively communicate with patients, families and doctors: Provide written summary of the patient's behavior during testing, including any interactions with the patient's parents or peers that may be observed incidentally to the psychologist. Complete progress notes in EPIC. Provide data to assist children in getting the appropriate special services/IEP's that are required and needed. Provide data for Psychologists which will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.

Skills & Competencies

REQUIRED SKILLS: Must demonstrate proficiency in testing skills for the most commonly administered IQ and Achievement tests. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required. Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to work in a demanding environment. Position requires the capability to relate well to and motivate patients and families. Must possess knowledge and understanding of the development and behaviors and management of infants, children and adolescents. Possess the ability to gather information from patients and families, observe behavior, document data and relay information to others.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field AND One (1) year of experience working with children OR
  • Master's degree in Psychology with coursework in individual test instruments

Preferred:

  • Pediatric testing experience preferred
