PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide care in the form of prescription of eyeglasses and contact lenses as well as in the detection of eye disease. The care is provided in the Medical Center dedicated to the care of infants, children, and adolescents.

Responsibilities
·Clinical
Perform ophthalmology exams in accordance with national optometry standards. Examine patient's eyes, conduct ophthalmology exams to detect vision problems, diseases, and other abnormal conditions. Prescribes eyeglasses and contact lenses, and may prescribe drugs to treat eye disorders. Perform cycloplegic and non-cycloplegic refractions utilizing retinoscope, auto-refraction and manifiest refraction techniques.

Participate in research/demonstration activities as needed.
·Education/Teaching
Provide education to personnel, patients or family through structured presentations and unstructured interactions while performing exams or resolving questions.
·Administration/Service
Participate as member of department committees as requested. Represent department at professional and other meetings as requested.

Required:
·Doctor of Optometry
·Pass written National Board examination and National, regional or State clinical exam
·Certified Optometrist
·Two years of clinical experience
