PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide comprehensive therapeutic management of complex patient cases for the Division of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. Provides clinical, departmental and professional leadership within CCHMC, the community, and the profession. Functions as a leader and expert in the areas of research, clinical programming, and/or education.

·Compliance - Patient Services Staff
Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.

·Patient Care - Age Specific and Culturally Diverse
Consistently integrates age specific and culturally diverse concepts into patient care, taking into consideration both the patient's chronological age and developmental functioning.
·Clinical Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrates competent clinical skills commensurate with a clinical therapist II and is responsible for programmatic leadership in the department. Manages a caseload related to area of research focus. Takes initiative for completion of required competencies for assignment(s). Investigates new evaluations and/or treatment approaches and educates others. Assumes responsibility for reviewing literature for specialty clinical area(s) and integrates and disseminates information on an ongoing basis. Serves as a resource to others in specialty clinical area(s). Demonstrates comprehensive, insightful and timely communication with all members of the healthcare team, including patient, caregivers, and/or parents
·Clinical Documentation
Assumes responsibility for understanding the documentation requirements for assigned area and for becoming competent in use of the designated system/format. Recommends modifications and/or development of new systems /processes as needs arise. Demonstrates proficiency in all documentation so that it is completed in a timely and thorough manner reflecting sensitivity and diversity of thought. Utilizes advanced clinical knowledge and skills to generate documentation which reflects analytical thinking and clinical reasoning skills. Follows established CCHMC, departmental and/or agency standards regarding documentation and distribution of written and/or electronic documents. Completes documentation so that patient's progress and status is clearly discernible. Submits documentation with complete and accurate representation of time spent that supports daily charges.
·Fiscal Responsibility
Understands the need for individual productivity targets and works proactively with supervisor(s) to establish a reasonable target based upon departmental need and assigned non-reimbursable activities. Continuously self- monitors performance in the area of productivity. Accurately completes charges daily following departmental guidelines regarding coding and charging. Demonstrates understanding of departmental resources and budgeting process and functions within the fiscal parameters of the department.
·Clinical Leadership Responsibilities
Conforms to the AOTA Code of Ethics and appropriate legal and departmental requirements for the practice of PT. Meets and/or exceeds the expectations of all customers in the delivery of patient care and/or research activities. Has significant experience, knowledge and expertise in a specialty area and is recognized as an expert. Utilizes experience and increased knowledge base to guide other health professionals in creative problem solving of patient care, research, and professional issues, demonstrating the ability to evaluate each situation and appreciate diverse perspectives. Effectively initiates and leads program development, delegating related tasks within the team, assuming responsibility for timely and effective outcomes and for the continued success of the program. Serves as a consultant to departmental and CCHMC staff and community agencies in clinical care and research. Serves as an active member of a state or national professional organization and acts as a reviewer for a professional journal or publication. Serves as an advisor or board member in a community organization. Shares leadership responsibilities within the department and CCHMC.
·Clinical Education Responsibilities
Contributes to the body of professional knowledge within the department, CCHMC, and the community by providing formal lectures, presentations, and workshops including the creation or use of multi-media materials. Identifies educational needs within the department and utilizes resources to facilitate learning and teaching of co-workers. Participates in the clinical education of OT and PT students and advises students on master's theses or doctoral dissertations. Teaches university courses or provides lectures for a university class.
·Research Responsibilities
Participates in research studies or directs research protocols for the department. Follows the established process for Scientific Review for the both the Division of OT/PT and the Department of Patient Services. Writes and obtains grants for funding of OT/PT research as appropriate and serves as a leader of a significant research program in the department. Publishes articles and research findings in professional journals. Assists, advises, and encourages others in development of grant proposals, conducting research and preparing presentations or manuscripts for publication. Develops a clinical outcome program for a specialty area. Serves as a liaison to university research programs in appropriate related fields

·Bachelor of Science OR Occupational Therapy Cert
·Current license to practice Physical Therapy in the State of Ohio and/or Kentucky
·Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy curriculum

·Master's degree, OTD, or Ph.D. in Occupational Therapy OR Related Discipline
·5 years of pediatric clinical experience, extensive clinical, leadership, or research exp.
