SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Clinical Director




PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide direct dental care to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center patients on a supplemental basis. To plan and carry out dental care programs for infant, children and adolescent patients and to aid in their mental and physical growth and development.

·Patient Care
Provides dental care for pediatric patients within the scope of the dental license, education and experience. Dentists may work in inpatient and/or outpatient settings as needed to ensure appropriate medical staffing. Participate in safe, effective and compassionate patient care, commensurate with their level of advancement and responsibility. Examine patients to determine presence of disease, injury and to establish preventive dental practices. Determine nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribe and administer medications and perform dental procedures. Develops treatment plans of patient and suggest appropriate treatments according to the specific condition. Counsels and advises patients and family on growth and development dental problems of patient. May provides preventive services through use of fluorides and sealants and instructs patient and family members on dental care. May perform surgical treatments.

Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Provide data which will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.
·Regulatory Compliance
Must be credentialed and privileged through the medical staff process and be appointed to the medical staff of CCHMC prior to performing clinical duties.
·Policy Compliance
Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information.

Provides consultation, research, teaching and patient/family education. Proper knowledge of latest dental treatment techniques.

·Ohio Dental License
·Doctor of Dental Surgery OR Doctor of Dental Medicine
·3 years of related pediatric experience
·Experience in specialty area OR experience treating patients under general anesthesia/sedation may be required for some positions
·Active member with clinical privileges of the CCHMC Medical Staff
