PURPOSE OF POSITION: To troubleshoot and repair systems and components and inspect and complete service requests in a timely, efficient manner; assist Director in day to day operations for the Building Maintenance Department

Responsibilities
·Communication
Report to immediate supervisor items affecting or potentially affecting proper and safe operation of plant and equipment. Present proper image of Cincinnati Children's and department to patients, visitors and staff.
·Leadership
Train personnel on various systems and equipment. Handle safety issues and determine action needed to correct. Develop new and update present departmental policies and procedures. Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions. Adhere to Cincinnati Children's and departmental policies and procedures. Follow policies and procedures governing the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment. Attend construction rounds and report any defeciences. Perform other duties as assigned.
·Planning and Coordination
Prioritize assigned maintenance work to properly execute emergency breakdown response. Maintain acceptable backlog of planned maintenance activity. Assist the director in scheduling workload, workorder assignment and plant coverage. Order necessary parts and equipment needed to maintain equipment. Give input to Director on performance evaluations.
·Regulatory Compliance
Maintain proper documentation of all assigned maintenance policies, procedures, and schematics. Attend required Cincinnati Children's training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, bloodborne pathogens and OSHA. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures. Provide education to personnel through structured presentations and unstructured interactions while performing tests or resolving technical questions.
·Technical
Run service calls, repairing plumbing, electric, mechanical and various types of equipment in a timely, efficient manner. Acquire and interpret maintenance data to determine operational status of plant equipment and systems. Assist in troubleshooting emergency and routine calls in HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical and help determine priority of repair. Work with contractors on scheduling and repairing of equipment. Troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, controls and systems. Provide services in a manner to be regularly and conveniently available to meet the needs of Cincinnati Children's patients, families and employees as determined by department management and Cincinnati Children's governing body. Develop knowledge and professional skills through cross training, literature and attendance at department meetings. Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency. Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge into the Plant Engineering department. Maintain current knowledge of technology and repair/PM techniques.

·Technical Skills
Knowledge of carpentry, HVAC, electric and plumbing: good mechanical skill. Reading ability sufficient to interpret blueprints, written instructions and technical data.

Required:
·Associate's Degree in a related field OR Approved apprentice acquired Journeyman's License OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
·5 years related experience
