PURPOSE OF POSITION: Maintain CCHMC grounds as to provide a safe, clean, and healing environment for patients, families, and employees.

Responsibilities
·Regulatory Compliance
Develop knowledge and professional skills through cross training, literature, and attendance at department meetings. Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective, and efficient environment for employees, patients, and families. Attend required CCHMC training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, blood borne pathogens, and OSHA. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures.
·Technical
Under general supervision, plant, trim, spray, mow, weed, fertilize, sweep, rake, cultivate, dig, water, and shovel materials. Remove snow and ice as well as apply ice melt products. Remove all trash and debris and other related tasks. Perform preventative maintenance and repair on grounds equipment and structures such as garages, drains, and irrigation system. Regularly review CCHMC landscaping for problem areas and make the necessary recommendations and suggestions to improve plant life at our properties. Exhibit proper pruning techniques of trees, shrubs, annuals, and perennials in order to maintain appropriate plant health and aesthetics. Maintain currency in the Horticulture field through continuing education, literature, and seminars. Remain up to date with the use of chemicals and fertilizers used in the landscape industry as well as participate in obtaining Pesticide Applicators License if necessary.

Demonstrated knowledge of proper way to plant trees, shrubs, annuals, and perennials. Know most common plants by name and where to find information on those with which he/she is not familiar. Demonstrated plant care knowledge.
·Insurable
Must be insurable by CCHMC to drive CCHMC vehicles by CCHMC's insurer.

Required:
·High School Graduate OR equivalent
·3 years related experience
·Driver's License

Preferred:
·Associate's Degree in a related field
·Formal education in Horticulture
·Master Gardener Certification
