·Compliance - Patient Services Management
Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Evaluate area of responsibility for compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Identify best practices as well as deficiencies to share with peers and make recommendations for improvement. Participate in the development of corrective action plans to guide needed and sustainable improvements. Provide project leadership, and/or hands-on support for implementation of operational dashboards that allow the area AVP to monitor progress and insure gains are attained and sustained. Ensure that compliance and readiness plans are current. Work with department leaders of Center for Professional Excellence (CPE) and Accreditation Services to improve staff competency, compliance and documentation. Enhance relationships to promote interdisciplinary involvement and knowledge of compliance standards, status, and actions. Track laws, regulations and standards that may affect practice and policies. Work with direct reports to insure that needed changes are made by the effective date of any change(s) in requirements.
Ensure efficient & cost effective resource management: staff, supplies, equipment, and instrumentation. Assures policies/protocols for activities in SPD are followed; provides input to protocol/policy formulation & revision as indicated. Validates record keeping in accord with hospital & regulatory agency requirements (JCAHO, OSHA). Manages timely preventive maintenance for instrumentation & equipment. Assists in management of instrument/equipment as relates to repair/replacement protocols. Monitors best practices to assure optimal quality is delivered in all functions/behaviors relevant to SPD.
·Staffing and Selection
Maintains positive environment to assure morale supports retention of qualified staff & assures productivity measures are met. Leads scheduled staff meetings; assures educational presentations are relevant to staff. Participates in interviewing & recommendations for hire/retention. Assures preceptors skills match needs of new staff to ensure successful orientation for new hires; monitors staff competency standards on annual basis. Counsels staff as warranted; is available to assist staff in understanding rules & regulations of employment, managing their work time & encouraging their achievements. Completes annual evaluations in timely manner.
Demonstrates fiscal & operational accountability; maintains current & up to date knowledge of SPD requirements.
Develops goals & objectives in accord with department philosophy & hospital strategic plan
Allocating resources and materials (e.g., supplies, technology) to accomplish work goals; procuring and overseeing the use of necessary technology, equipment, supplies, facilities, and materials
