PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for developing relationships and executing strategies that result in major gift income (in this role, defined as individual gifts/pledges of $50,000 to $1 Million or more) to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. This position will maintain a portfolio of 100-150 prospects and his/her work is expected to result in $1 million to $3 million annually.

Identify, assess, cultivate, solicit and close five, six and seven figure gifts from individuals. Develops cultivation and solicitation strategies for each individual. Strategically move major gift prospects through the development cycle from qualification to cultivation to solicitation to closing to stewardship. Understands, identifies, suggests and utilizes multiple giving vehicles for the donor. Uses moves management database system to track progress and results. Meets monthly and yearly metrics: with respect to prospect and donor visits, solicitations, and dollars raised. Coordinates donor interests with the priorities of the organization and develops funding proposals to match interests with needs.
·External communications
Senior Major Gift Officers also fulfill an important, externally-oriented role, representing Cincinnati Children's to donors, prospects, medical center leaders, volunteers and potentially, national resources as part of the overall effort to raise awareness of and generate support for Cincinnati Children's both locally and nationally. Specific tasks may include: preparing written and verbal presentations and proposals and delivering this information personally to potential funders, representing CCHMC at local foundation, family foundation and not-for -profit board meetings, communicating on behalf of CCHMC in donor meetings, at events, in fund-raising committee meetings and at check presentations. Responsible for all written communications with donors, such as gift verification letters and emails, gift agreement drafts, stewardship reports and email messages to coordinate medical center donor visits with leadership. Helps to recruit and staff campaign and special project committees.
·Project Management
Lead one or more targeted major gift fund-raising projects and are accountable for reaching project goals. They also assist in departmental projects, events and programs. They must remain current on legal and programmatic changes affecting development functions.
·Relationship Management
Oversees and manages a portfolio of donors and prospects. Establishes a program of personal visits with past, current and prospective donors. Senior major gift officers also coordinate stewardship reports to communicate with donors concerning the use of their gifts. Provides staff support to Foundation Board members and other leaders as needed and requested by Director of Major Gifts. Effectively utilizes resources of department, medical center and CCHMC personnel.

·Professional Knowledge
Passion/Energy/Knowledge Application: Performs well in a collaborative environment and is motivated by the Cincinnati Children's mission and vision. Proven fund raising performance. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Possesses a strong grasp of development principles and a strong working knowledge of development support functions such as prospect research, communications, annual fund and events. Computer literate and working knowledge of software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, and fund raising database). Ability to travel extensively in the greater tri-state area and when needed, to visit with prospects/donors across the nation.

·Bachelor's degree in related discipline
·7 years of professional fundraising experience AND 3 years demonstrated success raising major gifts from individual donors face-to-face

·Three years of capital campaign experience AND proven track record of success raising major gifts in a large, complex medical center
·Advanced degree or certification (such as a CFRE)
·Working knowledge of current fundraising trends, techniques and strategies preferred
