Author and edit diverse print and electronic communication pieces to advance the organization's philanthropic goals. Work collaboratively with other individuals and groups to develop, edit, trouble-shoot and finalize content. Identify needs for new communication pieces, plan and initiate work.
Develop and present content plans for publications. Identify ways to improve current publications and take necessary steps. Author, edit and approve publication content. Assign and edit the work of others. Develop and maintain relationships with printers, designers and photographers. Project and report on publication expenses. Oversee print production.
Work collaboratively with senior leadership and fundraising staff to research and develop content for major gift proposals. Utilize writing strengths to assist clinical and research leaders with describing medical center programs and funding needs. Synthesize program information to develop targeted pieces for major donors. Develop and customize proposal templates and supporting materials for use in major gift solicitations.
·Donor Relations and Stewardship
Develop and execute multi-faceted communications plans for signature fundraising events, including print, electronic, PR and social media components. Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors to develop and produce compelling videos to support special events, fundraising and stewardship initiatives. Work collaboratively with senior leadership to plan strategies and content for mass stewardship reports. Collaborate with donor officers to identify donors to feature in publications and donor recognition vehicles. Develop content plans to aid the stewardship and gift cultivation process. Author and edit annual report content.
Provide critical analysis of communications strategies, recognize needs (or changing needs) and recommend solutions. Mentor junior writers and new staff. Identify opportunities for strategy, project and process improvement and take action. Initiate and lead difficult office-wide discussions and projects. Contribute to office-wide discussions to coordinate communication efforts across teams and ensure donors are receiving relevant mailings at appropriate times. Represent supervisor in his/her absence.
