SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Primary Investigator



PURPOSE OF POSITION: To perform supervised analysis of radiologic images (including, but notlimited to, MRI and CT images) in a research environment. Analyses will beperformed according to established procedures, and will involve making accuratemeasurements and recording test results.


Performanalysis of radiologic images and record data: Follow established imaging researchprotocols. Perform image analyses independently with appropriate supervision.Understand the scientific principles involved in the research. Apply thoseprinciples to troubleshoot and modify procedures and techniques whenappropriate. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all post-processing workand analyses. Assist in training post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, andjunior laboratory personnel in image processing techniques. Capable ofdirecting an undergraduate trainee in simple, well-established procedures.
Types ofanalyses to be performed:A wide variety of image analyses will beperformed related to the brain, heart, lung, liver, as well as other organs.Analyses will require use of both commercially-available (e.g., Medis, Vitrea,Philips Intellispace) and in-house developed (e.g., MATLAB-based) softwareprograms. Proper training and instruction will be provided.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Effective verbal andinterpersonal communication skills. Capable of understanding and following verbaland written instructions. Demonstrate high clerical accuracy, attention todetail, strong organizational skills, and an independent work initiative. Computerliterate and working knowledge of software applications (word processing,spreadsheet, and database). Ability to perform image analyses and accuratelyrecord data and learn new image analysis techniques. Capable of meeting timedemands necessary to execute analyses. Able to identify mistakes and discussresolution plan.



• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline ANDone-year experience working full time as a Research Assistant II, or equivalentcombination of similar post graduate professional experience and an undergraduateexperience in an extensive internship that is 1) in a designated and nationallyrecognized research environment, or 2) evidenced by contributions to thepeer-reviewed literature.

• OR Master's degree in a related discipline.

• OR certified CT or MRI technologist with two ormore years' experience working in radiologic image analysis procedures (e.g.,working in a clinical radiology 3D/post-processing laboratory).

Experience with image processing preferred
