PURPOSE OF POSITION: Ensure regulatory compliance,training, and documentation for The Joint Commission Environment of Care andCMS standards, as well as compliance with CCHMC Policies, Procedures, andEnvironmental Guidelines as it relates to design and construction projects.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain compliance withapplicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements, such as JointCommission, CMS, HIPAA and or accreditation standards, as well as compliancewith CCHMC policies, procedures, and guidelines. Conduct thorough teaminspections of construction projects, renovation containment plans, as well aslife safety documentation review.
Facilitate weeklymultidisciplinary Construction Rounds and Infection Control rounds teams withthe purpose of reviewing compliance of industry codes and requirements, as wellas CCHMC policies and procedures. Intake, review, and distribute fullydocumented risk assessments (Environmental, ICRA, & ILSM) for allconstruction & renovation activities to impacted stakeholders.
Participate inimproving/assuring organizational and/or departmental performance/qualitythrough recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performingnew procedures, collecting data and/or providing input to departmentdiscussions.
Maintain contractor safetyprograms within the department/division. Help develop, implement, monitor and manage safety programs, policiesand procedures; including, but not limited to, those related to safetyregulations and organizational policies.
Lead and participate in theformal regulatory required training, education (including documentation) of buildingoccupants and users as it relates to life safety measures and occupancytraining. May assist in identifying ongoing educational/training needs.
Effective verbal, written andinterpersonal communication skills are necessary.
Maintain and manage strongworking relationships with clients, colleagues and other key stakeholders. Respondto requests quickly and effectively.
Recognizing when sufficientinformation has been obtained to make a decision; evaluating availablealternatives and using sound thought processes and relevant experience to makethe optimal choice in a timely manner; making difficult decisions even inhighly ambiguous situations
Facilities & Regulatory Knowledge:
Knowledgeof related regulatory compliance requirements and standards. Familiarity withhealthcare occupancies, construction means and methods, building systems andenvelope details, OSHA safety requirements.
