PURPOSE OF POSITION: Insure regulatory compliance, training, and documentation for the joint commission environment of care standards and CMS by meeting NFPA, AAMI, ASHRAE, and/or HIPPA regulations. Provide technical support and expertise to all facilities owned and operated by CCHMC in Construction, Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC.

Responsibilities
·Regulatory Compliance
Insure regulatory compliance by keeping up to date of codes and standards and verify compliance of all Joint commission related documents at all facilities owned and operated by CCHMC. May develop knowledge related to NFPA, AAMI, ASHRAE, CMS, and/or HIPAA standards through training and literature. May be responsible for maintaining equipment and ensure systems operate effectively and safely. Maintain proper documentation of all assigned policies, procedures, and schematics. Attend required Cincinnati Children?s training sessions related to role. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures.
·Equipment and Maintenance
May acquire and interpret maintenance data to determine operational status of plant equipment and systems at all CCHMC sites. May assist in troubleshooting emergency and routine calls and help determine priority of repair. Handle safety issues and determine action needed to correct. Develop new and update present departmental policies and procedures. Work with contractors on scheduling and repairing equipment. May troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC systems. May develop knowledge and professional skills through cross training, literature and by attending department meetings. May participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions. May participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency. Maintain current knowledge of related industry, technology and techniques.
·Planning and Coordination
Prioritize assigned work to properly execute emergency response. Maintain acceptable backlog of planned activity. Assist leadership in scheduling workload, work order assignment and plant coverage. May order necessary parts and equipment needed to maintain equipment. May give input to leadership on performance evaluations.
·Communication
Report to leadership items affecting or potentially affecting proper operation of plant and equipment at all sites. Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, efficient environment for employees, patients and families. Communicate to others Cincinnati Children's mission, goals and values. Provide education to personal, patients or family through structured presentations and unstructured interactions while performing tests or resolving technical questions.
·Procedures and Safety
Adhere to Cincinnati Children's and departmental policies and procedures. Follow policies and procedures governing the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability and security information. Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees, patients, and families. Understands, adheres to and models Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the department/unit. May maintain safety programs within the department/division. May help develop, implement, monitor and manage safety programs, policies and procedures; including, but not limited to, those related to safety regulations and organizational policies. Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge into the department.
·Facilitation
Facilitate weekly multidisciplinary Construction Rounds and Infection Control rounds teams with the purpose of reviewing compliance of industry codes and requirements, as well as CCHMC policies and procedures. Intake, review, and distribute fully documented risk assessments (Environmental, ICRA, & ILSM) for all construction & renovation activities to impacted stakeholders.
·Training
May lead and participate in the formal regulatory required training, education (including documentation) of building occupants and users as it relates to life safety measures and occupancy training. May assist in identifying ongoing educational/training needs. Provide education to personnel through structured presentations and unstructured interactions while performing tests or resolving technical questions. May train personnel on various systems and equipment.

Must be able to interpret blueprints, written instructions and technical data. Knowledge of related regulatory compliance requirements and standards, and systems to ensure regulatory compliance. Familiar with healthcare occupancies, industry means and methods, building systems, envelope details, and OSHA safety requirements.

Required:
·Associate's Degree OR Equivalent
·5 years' experience in hospital regulatory compliance AND
·10 years of high quality Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, or HVAC experience.

Preferred:
·Bachelor's degree in technical engineering and 5 years of related experience.
·Familiarity with applicable regulatory/inspection requirements regarding hospital environment and equipment.
