The Department of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center invites applicants for theDirectorship of the Division of General and Community Pediatrics. This important leadership role provides the Division with the vision necessary to lead to the next phase of excellence and growth. The Division aims to transform the delivery of primary care and foster the innovation needed to improve population health in the Cincinnati region.

Cincinnati Children's consistently ranks as one of the top 3 pediatric hospitals among Honor Roll Hospitals, including the 2015-2016 U.S. News & World Report. Cincinnati Children's has over 1.2 million patient encounters a year. The institution is also one of the world's largest centers devoted to pediatric medical research with more than 1.4 million square feet of research laboratory space and $200 million in external grant funding. As part of the Strategic Plan for 2020, Cincinnati Children's and the Department of Pediatrics has focused considerable attention on Community Health, work in close alignment with the Division of General and Community Pediatrics.

About The Division of General and Community Pediatrics

The Division is recognized for leading important work in the diverse communities of the Cincinnati region: developing new systems of care that ensure children thrive; care that is comprehensive, integrated and community-based, and puts children and families first. The Division operates 4 primary care sites, 3 school based health centers, a complex care center, and a foster care center. The Division also plays a large role in medical education and research. The primary care centers serve as continuity clinic sites for the majority of the pediatric residents and the pediatric clerkship sites for the 3rd year medical students from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The Division conducts clinical, health services, education, environmental health, population health, and implementation science research.

The Division oversees more than 150 individuals including 29 academic faculty, 19 staff physicians, 6 fellows, and 11 advanced practice nurses. The Division has a unique and long-standing collaborative relationship with over 200 community pediatricians. With our comprehensive approach addressing quality improvement, system redesign, and rigorous measurement of outcomes, current innovation priorities include telehealth and mobile health, school-based health centers, integrated behavioral health, community health worker and home visitation models, and hospital-community partnerships.


About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate is a physician with experience in developing new systems of care and:

· Successful track record in mentoring

· Strong track record of collaboration across disciplines

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Experience in leadership and management

· Experience with extramurally funded research programs is also desirable
