PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assess, plan, design, implement, and evaluate education programs for the hospital?s various clinical information systems. Prepare training plans and materials for and conduct training sessions on the use of those systems.
·Education/Project Management Cycle
Create and distribute educational content required for new applications or for changes made to existing clinical applications which impact end users. Create educational materials such as tutorials for online classes, web based training, and simulations. Design, write and prepare training materials for department clinical systems implemented. Analyze the needs of end users and design a plan to implement a training strategy. Develop the training materials for and implement the training strategy. Evaluate the effectiveness of the training strategy. Prioritize assigned tasks and projects based upon directives from supervisor and timelines of other assigned projects.
Facilitate teamwork and work to achieve positive results when urgent needs arise or when confronted with major responsibilities and limited resources. Collaborate with other departments in hospital-wide education programs. Serve as a role model of efficiency and productivity. Assume responsibility for meeting internal and external customer needs related to clinical system education.
Assume responsibility and accountability for leadership/active membership on councils, committees, task forces or identified and approved projects representing the Clinical Information Systems Education and the current projects on which the department is working. Attend and participate in design and leadership team meetings for the various clinical applications deployed throughout the hospital. Consult with physicians, ancillary departmental staff, clinical staff, Patient Services Leadership and Information Services to ensure that clinical system application training programs and materials support global and unique patient care delivery processes.
Ensure outstanding end-user support is provided; adhere to and promote continual adoption of change management policies and procedures. Model outstanding customer service behavior, including timely and effective follow-up with customers. Always maintain CCHMC's service standards of being Courteous, Attentive, Respectful and Enthusiastic team members, and Safe (CARES). Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Competencies
Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, tact and professional demeanor
Proficiency in application of adult learning principles. Ability to evaluate learning needs and develop training strategies to meet these needs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstration of effective organizational skills
Proficiency in Windows and MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of other content creation applications (Acrobat, screen capture programs, etc.)
Ability to relate to diverse age and demographic backgrounds
Possess knowledge of clinical system software packages
·Bachelor's Degree in Lab, Education, or related field
·Previous classroom training and content creation experience Preferred:
·3 years' experience developing and implementing training focused on clinical info systems
·Project management skills
·E-learning development skills
