*** CCHMC Pharmacy Techs are responsible for assisting pharmacists with the preparation of medications for dispensing to our patients and to patient care areas.
We are recruiting for Techs that want to work 32 hours per week or 20 hours per week. The jobs work on rotating shifts, between 1st and 2nd. The positions also require an every other weekend rotation.
To be considered, candidates must have 1 year of retail pharmacy technician experience, or 6 months of hospital pharmacy technician experience.
Certificate of Pharmacy Technology and/or State of Ohio Pharmacy Intern License must be obtained within 7 months of hire.***

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist pharmacists with the preparation of medications for dispensing to infant, children and adolescent patients and patient care areas. To perform related technical and supportive tasks necessary to provide pharmacy services.

Responsibilities
·Compliance - Patient Services Staff
Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.
·Medication Orders
Prepare unit dose, ambulatory and sterile dosage forms for dispensing. Interpret physician orders, prepare dispensing records, type labels and calculate doses and drug volumes for drug dosages. Fill and deliver medication carts/drawers to patient care areas. Account for any missing medications. Prepare batch labels and repackage drugs from stock solutions. Prime administration tubing for central IV lines using setup for Hickman Protocol. Prepare total parenteral nutrition admixtures using automated equipment or manually.
·Systems and Documentation
Interact with pharmacy and hospital computer systems as necessary to maintain records, generate billing, labels and reports. File orders and D/C patient files.
·Inventory Management
Credit returned medications. Maintain inventory and stock levels and equipment as necessary.

Ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions
·Dexterity
Possess finger dexterity, manual dexterity and motor coordination necessary to manipulate necessary tools/objects
·Math Skills - Advanced
Mathematical ability sufficient to perform complex calculations
·Preferred
Knowledge of aseptic technique and IV preparation and a familiarity with medical and scientific terminology are preferred. Typing skills preferred.

Required:
·High School Graduate OR equivalent
·At least 18 years old
·Certificate in Pharmacy Technology within 210 days of hire
1 year retail pharmacy experience OR 6 months hospital pharmacy experience REQUIRED

Preferred:
·Associates Degree
·Related Experience
