PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for programming andbroadcasting for the medical center's internal broadcast media center. The1-year paid training position focuses on encouraging hospitalized children toexplore the creative realms of radio, television and new media.Responsibilities include collaborating on programming and being an on-airpersonality for the closed-circuit radio station and in-room TV channel.
Develops and produces live and pre-recorded programcontent for television broadcasts and radio broadcasts. Works with departmentstaff and patients in the pre-production and production of weekly live shows.Provides on-site support and/or "talent" during live televisionand/or radio broadcasts and activities. Facilitates patient participation inmedia broadcasts and/or therapeutic projects with individual patients and/orgroups when schedule permits. Facilitates patient participation in broadcastsheld throughout the hospital. Co-produces "therapeutic video"projects with individual patients and/or groups. Informs patients, families andstaff of opportunities for program participation and equipment utilization.
Works with television and radio equipment andsoftware. Identifies and creates proper signal flow of audio and video paths tominimize technical problems during live broadcasts. Troubleshoots audio/videoproblems during live and The Seacrest Studios broadcasts. Reports technicalproblems to appropriate people with necessary follow-up. Facilitates aconsistent and effective setup for each production. Researches video technologydevelopments and recommend upgrades to equipment and software asappropriate/needed and if budget allows. Monitors and maintains studioequipment, scheduling repairs and or upgrades as needed, track supplies orderedfor the studio.
Tracks broadcast program statistics, number ofcallers, number of units, etc., and provides reports to
supervisor and director upon request.
