PURPOSE OF POSITION: To conduct cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and under the direct mentorship also develop patient/diagnosis specific testing protocols, conduct cardiac rehabilitation and exercise therapy with exercise prescription, analyze date and test measures, generate reports, and conduct exercise research for the pulmonary department dedicated to the care of infants, children, and adolescents.

Responsibilities
·Assessment
Conduct cardiopulmonary exercise testing according to established guidelines. Conduct field testing and fitness evaluation for clinical populations. Develop patient/diagnosis specific testing protocols under direct mentorship. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Assist in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency. Understands, adheres to and models Core Values as defined organizationally and specifically within the department/unit/institute.
·Therapy
Conduct exercise therapy and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs for clinical populations under direct mentorship. Provide services and consultation in a manner to be regularly and conveniently available to meet the needs of Cincinnati Children's patients as determined by Pulmonary management and medical staff.

·Training
Provide/generate training materials and programming for instruction of Fellows, residents, and allied health personnel. Conduct in-service on exercise testing/therapy for Fellows, residents and allied health care personnel. Attend required Cincinnati Children's training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, safety college, patient safety, and OSHA. Comply with infection control policies and procedures.
·Teamwork
Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge in the Cardiopulmonary Exercise and Pulmonary Function Lab. Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to Pulmonary discussions. Perform other duties as assigned.
·Research
Analyze data and test measures for research projects under direct mentorship. Participate in data management and analysis for research projects and publications/presentations under direct mentorship. Implement existing protocols and initiate research protocols inclusive of IRBs under direct mentorship. Prepare and present scientific reports (abstracts, manuscripts and articles) and manuals. Collaborate with other investigators at Cincinnati Children's and in the community wishing to use the resources of the Cardiopulmonary Exercise and Pulmonary Function Lab.

·Medical Instrumentation
Working knowledge of medical instrumentation

Required:
·MS/MA in exercise science, kinesiology or a directly related field with a strong background exercise physiology
·Registered or must completed registry within 18 months of hire as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist from ACSM
·CPR

Preferred:
·Pediatric Advanced LifeSupport AND Adv Cardiovascular Life Supprt
·Experience in a Healthcare environment
