To be trained and to demonstrate proficiency as an Electroencephalography Technologist for both inpatient and outpatient EEG procedures

·Learn to Perform EEGs
Receive training on how to perform routine, critical care, and neonate EEGs in the laboratory and at the bedside of patients in the intensive care unit. Learn to measure and accurately apply and remove electrodes in a timely manner. Learn to check electrode impedances. Learn the standards of the laboratory (routine, sleep, bedside and long term video/EEG recordings).
·Lab & Equipment Maintenance
Learn to keep equipment and electrodes clean and in proper working order. Learn about equipment operations and basic troubleshooting. Report malfunctions to a supervisor promptly. Maintain necessary supplies and equipment. Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees, patients and families.
·Job Knowledge/Skills Acquisition
Acquire skills for basic neurodiagnostic testing procedures. Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge into the EEG laboratory. Learn appropriate actions to take during patient emergency situations and ensure patient safety at all times. Learn basic infection control standards relating to patient and equipment, including use and handling of electrodes. Learn about appropriate equipment calibrations and how to make adjustments.
·Communication/Data Entry & Management
Learn how to write a comprehensive patient history. Observe experienced techs explain test procedure to patient and family members. Learn how to accurately enter pertinent patient information into database.

Skills & Competencies
Computer literacy sufficient to perform data entry and typing
·MS Office - Basic
Basic skill in Microsoft Office programs
Possess finger dexterity, manual dexterity and motor coordination necessary to manipulate necessary tools/objects
·Physical Stamina - Moderate
Possess physical stamina sufficient to perform moderate lifting, frequent stooping, and extensive standing/walking
Ability to adapt work schedule to meet the demands of the position, possibly including nights and/or weekends
Grasping the essence of new material quickly and easily; understanding one's learning style and seeking appropriate learning opportunities; using mistakes as learning opportunities
Excellent verbal, written and/or interpersonal communication skills

·High School Graduate OR Equivalent
·Experience in healthcare

·Patient care experience
