Maintain responsibility for the distributive activities within assigned areas, including staffing, coordination of evaluation process and payroll activities. Provide 24 hour on-call coverage for distributive staffing coordination. Facilitate the involvement of Decentralized Pharmacists and Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in providing pharmacokinetics monitoring of assigned zone and rotating through evening and weekend on-call coverage.
Monitor unit compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies. This will be accomplished by maintaining environmental and documentation compliance via unit monitoring. Design, implement and monitor corrective actions as identified by unit tracking
Participate in the development of long-term and short-term operational goals for the department.
Perform duties and responsibilities of a Pharmacist in emergency situations.
·Selection and Staffing
Participate in the recruitment and selection process for pharmacy candidates. Coordinate the work schedules for the staff in their assigned work areas.
Become knowledgeable of investigational protocols involving drug therapy.
Serve on committees as necessary, including Pharmacy Coordinating Committee, Internal Medication Safety, IV Access Group, Epic Pharmacy Governance, Unit Move Steering Committee, and Medication Overfill Task Force
·Training and Mentoring
Maintain involvement in teaching and supervising pharmacy personnel, pharmacy interns and rotating students from the University of Cincinnati, College of Pharmacy.
Assist in preparation, management, and evaluation of annual fiscal operating and capital equipment budgets for assigned area(s). This will include assisting in management and evaluation of variance reports, identifying areas for cost containment, developing, monitoring and managing productivity measures. Maintain accuracy of time reporting, payroll, and department position control. Financial management includes collaboration with the Business Director on area-specific financial initiatives.
Foster an environment that promotes a spirit of inquiry and continuous quality improvement. Assigned service areas will be monitored to determine approaches for improvement activities. These activities include designing new processes, collecting, measuring, and disseminating data. Performance over time will be reviewed and reported. Based on evaluation, the process may be redesigned or improved. Quality patient care outcomes will be ensured through policy and guideline development. Quality Improvement initiatives extend beyond the service area, requiring collaboration with other departments in hospital-wide performance improvement initiatives.
