SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Senior Clinical Director, Respiratory Care, Senior Clinical Director, Emergency Department

COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Physicians, Nurses, Clinical Coordinators, Respiratory Therapists, Business Office/Registration Staff, Clerical Support Staff, Chaplains, Interdepartmental Staff , Community Providers, Parents, Caregivers and Patients.

TITLES SUPERVISED: Respiratory Therapist I, II, and III

TOTAL NUMBER OF FTE's DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY SUPERVISED: 3-5

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Work collaboratively with Senior Clinical Director(s) in the planning and management of respiratory care services in the emergency department. The supervisor has responsibility for the day to day operations of the respiratory care services and facilitates the linkage between the clinical and management aspects of the emergency department. Supervise, direct and evaluate the skills and work performance of all respiratory acre personnel in the emergency department of a medical center dedicated to the care of infants, children and adolescents.

Responsibilities
·Compliance - Patient Services Management
Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Evaluate area of responsibility for compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Identify best practices as well as deficiencies to share with peers and make recommendations for improvement. Participate in the development of corrective action plans to guide needed and sustainable improvements. Provide project leadership, and/or hands-on support for implementation of operational dashboards that allow the area AVP to monitor progress and insure gains are attained and sustained. Ensure that compliance and readiness plans are current. Work with department leaders of Center for Professional Excellence (CPE) and Accreditation Services to improve staff competency, compliance and documentation. Enhance relationships to promote interdisciplinary involvement and knowledge of compliance standards, status, and actions. Track laws, regulations and standards that may affect practice and policies. Work with direct reports to insure that needed changes are made by the effective date of any change(s) in requirements.

·Clinical Practice
Works collaboratively with Senior Clinical Director(s) in the planning, organization, and direction of the respiratory care services in the Emergency Department. Plans, manages, organizes, directs, and evaluates the work performance of supervised staff on a day to day basis. Acts as Role Model, Clinical Expert and Resource to all members of the health care team. Participates in the evaluation, selection and interview process of new personnel in conjunction. with the Director(s) of Respiratory Care and Emergency Department. Facilitates utilization of 'Evidence Based Care' (Clinical Pathways) and standardized approved criteria to improve coordination and level of care. Support, interpret and enforce CCHMC policy and procedure as well as Emergency department and respiratory care policies. Provides direct patient care that reflects current professional practice. Maintains thorough knowledge of Respiratory Care Ohio Revised Code.Participate in establishing job requirements and goals, ensure that clinical practice is at standards set by CCHMC respiratory care division and Ohio revised code.

Required:
·Bachelor's Degree OR Equivalent
·Graduate of an AMA approved respiratory care program
·Registered Respiratory Therapist (RT) & licensed in the State of Ohio as a Professional RT
·Demonstrates strong leadership and educational skills
·5 years related experience

Preferred:
·Previous supervisory experience
