SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Senior Clinical Director or Clinical Manager


PURPOSE OF POSITION: To plan and conduct age appropriate play experiences in activity centers and at bedside which promote infant, children and adolescent patients' physical, emotional, social and cognitive development during hospitalization.

·Compliance - Patient Services Staff
Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.
·Interprofessional Practice:
Demonstrates consistent integration of the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) in all aspects of practice.
·Patient Care - Age Specific and Culturally Diverse
Consistently integrates age specific and culturally diverse concepts into patient care, taking into consideration both the patient's chronological age and developmental functioning.
·Patient Care
Assesses psychosocial needs through observation and information interaction. Recognizes the developmental level of patients play and social interactions. Makes appropriate referrals to child life specialists. Introduces information about the hospital activity center program to patients and families. Fosters growth and development through appropriate play & social interactions. Implements play, activities with patients. Facilitates interactions between patient, siblings, and volunteers. Facilitates play with a medical theme to promote coping.
Orders and stocks patient materials in compliance with medical center policy. Performs duties related to infection control. Displays seasonal/holiday decorations in compliance with code. Maintains attractive and inviting play/educational spaces. Identifies potential safety hazards and responds appropriately.
·Departmental Responsibility
Submit requests for supplies according to departmental guidelines. Ensures that work areas are organized, safe and professional in appearance for employees, patients and families. Identifies potential problems, clears barriers, assumes ownership of problems, and solves problems at the lowest possible level demonstrating accountability of self and others. Manages time and priorities effectively. Effectively manages workload and resources to provide a fair, consistent, and acceptable volume of work. Completes special assignments and projects while maintaining regular workflow. Strives to increase personal productivity by identifying and implementing new work procedures. Proactively contributes to a positive work environment.
·Data Management
Completes required daily attendance information according to division guidelines to insure quality patient care and staff productivity.

Supports and participates in performance improvement activities. Serves on committees and/or work groups in the division and hospital. Participates in peer review. Orient and supervise volunteers. Contribute to education and training of students and other professionals. Proactively shares knowledge with peers. Completes required training and education by designated deadline and achieves.

·Associate's Degree in a related field OR equivalent
·1 year professional experience with children
