·Compliance - Patient Services Staff
Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.
·Patient Care - Age Specific and Culturally Diverse
Consistently integrates age specific and culturally diverse concepts into patient care, taking into consideration both the patient's chronological age and developmental functioning.
Order supplies for the department that includes hearing aids, hearing aid supplies, cochlear implant supplies, and other diagnostic testing supplies. Maintains order book database for hearing aids and supplies ordered for patients. Enters charges into EPIC for hearing aids, hearing aid supplies, and other equipment to patients. Performs tasks related to receiving, storing, and distributing products, materials, equipment, and supplies. Process return for credit and loss/damage claims for hearing aid devices and supplies.
·Patient Related Responsibility
Responds appropriately to phone inquiries, assisting internal and external customers. Takes accurate and complete messages. Investigates and resolves patient requests, questions, or problems. Respond to patient inquiries regarding hearing aids or supply ordering. Assist patients with scheduling follow up appointments. Establishes rapport with patients and their families to promote a positive experience.
Participates on clinical support assistant team. Participates in quality, productivity, and patient access enhancement projects divisionally and with designated project teams. Presents a positive image of CHMC in all interactions with patients, families, fellow employees, community, vendors and other external callers. Follows CHMC policies and procedures; seeks information from appropriate individuals if unfamiliar with policies. Resource to the division personnel. Recognizes the value of individual and cultural differences, treats all people with dignity and respect. Assesses communication styles and individualizes strategies to enhance/maximize effectiveness. Works cooperatively within the department and throughout CHMC. Communicates with other coworkers to convey accurate and relevant information in a timely manner within and beyond the department. Responsible for and manages special projects as assigned. Contributes to a positive work environment. Contributes to department goals based on mission/ vision/ values. Assists with training new employees (other support assistants, Audiology students, and administrative assistants). Performs other duties as assigned.
·Audiology Assistant Responsibility
Assists audiologists in completion of paperwork required for hearing aids which includes warranty information, sales receipts, and loaner agreements. After the completion of designated training, and under the supervision of an Audiologist, acts clinical assistant to the audiologist during patient care activities. Tasks assigned in this clinical assistant capacity include, but are not limited to: a. Otoscopic inspection; b. Daily calibration checks; c. Assisting in Audiometric testing; I. Utilizing play distraction, visual reinforcement, play audiometry, and or other approved techniques to assist with diagnostic testing; d. Hearing aid programming & troubleshooting; e. Earmold impressions and modifications; f. Electroacoustic analysis of hearing aids; & g. Conduct or advise on hearing aid orientation. Assists in activities related to Infection control in accordance with hospital policy & accrediting organizations
