PURPOSE OF POSITION: Evaluate, plan and administer treatment to obtain/conserve optimal physical function of assigned injured athletes. Facilitate referral of patients from physician to Physical Therapist. Responsible for coordinating athletic training coverage at all sporting events for school sports teams.

Responsibilities
·Evaluation and Treatment
Under the direct supervision of a Physician provides a comprehensive treatment approach to assigned athletes demonstrated by incorporation of appropriate evaluation techniques; implementation of thorough, functionally based treatment programs, and appropriate discharge planning including patient education/training. Makes appropriate referrals to other resources. Facilitates referral of patient from physician to physical therapist. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care. Formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment. Plan and coordinate care, treatment and rehabilitation for discharged patients
·Teamwork
Clinical setting will assist a physician in providing concussion education to patients and families. This includes delegated clinical/clerical/administrative tasks
·Clinical Development
Further professional development by attending continuing education meetings, independent reading, individual training and site visits. Provides follow-up inservices on meetings attended within designated time frames. Participates in research data collection in a HIPAA compliant manner. Both screens athletes and administrates injury tracking at schools and club teams throughout the region. Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge into the Sports Medicine Biodynamics Center.
·Departmental Responsibility
Contributes to department/center program development through involvement in special projects or program coordinator, center conference and/or marketing efforts.
·Coordination
Coordinates assignment of ATC coverage for sporting events (games, practices) for professional/amateur teams. Includes maintaining ongoing communication with affiliated schools and other affiliations.

Required:
·Bachelor in Athletic Training
·Licensed in the State of Ohio
·National Athletic Trainer Assoc Cert

Preferred:
·Master of Athletic Training
·2 years related experience as an Athletic Trainer Certified at the high school/college level
