PURPOSE OF POSITION: To perform material handling activities and provide customer service related to the receipt and distribution of packages and supplies throughout the medical center. To assist nurses and healthcare professionals in acquiring the desired products or services. To receive and deliver supply orders in a timely and accurate fashion.
·Customer Service Perform activities related to the receipt and delivery of orders in a timely manner with 100% accuracy, a sense of urgency, and total customer satisfaction. Answer questions and resolve problems related to the status of purchase orders with a professional and courteous demeanor. Meet departmental service response time goals. Answer questions and resolve problems related to the status of orders. Prioritize receipts and deliveries in order to fulfill the most critical needs first.
·Materials Handling Unload trucks, receive, stage, route and deliver inbound orders throughout the Base medical center. Coordinate the shipment of outbound freight and courier deliveries to the off-campus satellite locations. Coordinate the delivery of medical gas cylinders to appropriate departments. Meet departmental productivity guidelines for area or shift assigned. Maintain understanding of and compliance with all departmental shipping policies.
·PeopleSoft Processes and Accounting Controls Maintain a basic knowledge of PeopleSoft and how to access all basic functions quickly. Maintain the accuracy of Materials Management's inventory and the hospital's accounting system by properly accounting for all receipt transactions in the PeopleSoft system. Contribute to departmental inventory accuracy and match exception goals. Follow all departmental procedures and documentation requirements.
·Teamwork Work as part of a team in order to have orders and supplies where they are needed and when they are needed in order to provide for excellence in patient care. Communicate with and provide support to internal department customers as needed to ensure orders are processed efficiently. Work with outgoing and incoming shifts to assure that all pending requests are satisfied. Participate in the training of new employees.
Skills & Competencies
·Communication - Intermediate Good verbal, written and/or interpersonal communication skills
·Customer Service - Basic Ability to respond to basic customer requests with patience and enthusiasm; understands the needs of customers and escalates issues when appropriate

·Computer Proficiency - Basic Working knowledge of basic computer applications
·Keyboarding - 20 WPM Ability to key 20 WPM
·Physical Stamina - High Excellent physical stamina sufficient to perform frequent bending, heavy lifting (up to 50 - 80 lbs.), extensive standing and/or walking.
·Math Skills Mathematical ability sufficient to perform basic and routine calculations
·High School Graduate OR equivalent
·1 year of previous work experience
·Experience in distribution, warehousing, wholesale, retail, hospital supply chain, materials management processes, and systems
