Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) is announcing an opening as an Assistant Professor in Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology focused on Integration of Behavioral Health into Primary Care. A central focus of CCHMC's Strategic Plan for 2020 is to improve the health of the children in our community. Behavioral Health integration into Primary Care is an area of focus in our Community Health effort. A key component t our "Thrive by 5" initiative is that every child aged 0 to 5 years is seen by a pediatric psychologist at every well-child visit. Our goal is to strengthen child and family functioning by focusing on prevention and addressing behavioral concerns as they are emerging. This focus is uniquely distinct from other models of behavioral health integration as it provides universal care focused on optimizing development and behavioral health. The successful candidates will be part of a cohesive and engaged multidisciplinary team in two of our primary care clinical settings, Hopple Street Neighborhood Clinic and Primary Care Clinic. We follow the Health Steps model and psychologists are integral to training primary care residents.
Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology is a vibrant and central division at Cincinnati Children's. We employ 81 psychologists, 60 of whom are engaged in clinical care and 21 are NIH funded researchers. We promote a strong culture of collaboration across our clinicians and researchers and provide infrastructure support that allows clinical faculty to contribute scholarly insights to the field from data collected as part of routine care. Cincinnati Children's is a leading medical research and teaching hospital ranked No. 3 in U.S. News World and Report 2016-17 of the best children's hospitals.
The successful candidate should have a Ph.D or Psy.D. from an APA accredited program, be license eligible in Ohio, have strong child clinical and pediatric psychology clinical experience, and demonstrate the ability to partner across disciplines to deliver care. Additional preferred experience includes providing services in pediatric primary care, assessing the growth and development of infants and children under five years of age and facilitating parent groups. Anticipated start date is between July and September 2017.
