As an extension of our mission, CCHMC and the University of Kentucky have partnered to develop the Joint Pediatric Heart Care Program (JPHCP) providing pediatric and adult congenital heart care at Kentucky Children's Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. The JPHCP Department of Cardiovascular Perfusion (DCP) staff will be members of the CCHMC team, under the direction of and in collaboration with the CCHMC DCP and stationed in Lexington. This arrangement allows the successful candidate to enjoy all the benefits provided by CCHMC and the full support and security of the growing CCHMC DCP while embarking on the exciting challenge of establishing a new program. The DCP is seeking an Associate Director to supervise the application of pediatric and adult congenital circulation technology and assist the DCP Director in the development and maintenance of the JPCHP DCP.

BENEFITS: Salary commiserate with clinical and leadership experience. Thirty-four days of PTO annually. PURPOSE OF POSITION: Supervision of the application and development of pediatric and adult congenital circulation technology in the operating room and throughout the institution; provides quality patient care for pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease. The Associate Director is additionally responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of the JPCHP cardiovascular perfusion program. Ensures adequate staffing based on scheduled surgical cases. Responsible to perform all duties of the Clinical Perfusionist job including the operation, maintenance and utilization of circulation technology applications.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Advanced knowledge of principles and techniques of circulation technology. Interpersonal skills necessary to work with hospital employees, physicians, patients, family members and community professionals. Leadership skills necessary to work with hospital employees, physicians, patients, family members and community professionals. Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to deal with extreme pressure and stress. Able to respond quickly to problem-solving situations while maintaining excellent interpersonal relations. Ability to effectively supervise the daily activities of the Clinical Perfusionist staff. Demonstrates the ability to provide age-appropriate care for pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required

  • Bachelor's degree required in an allied health field or equivalent with a strong science background and advanced training in circulation technology from a CAHEP accredited perfusion training program or an equivalent combination of education and perfusion experience
  • Certification from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion
  • Five to seven years of progressive experience as a pediatric Cardiovascular Perfusionist
  • Prior clinical managerial experience

Preferred:

  • Prior functional or team leadership experience
  • Master's degree preferred in an allied health field
    AmSECT's Fellow of Pediatric Perfusion Designation
