MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Appraisal: The Archivist assesses materials with potential archival value based on the mission of the CCHMC Archives program.

Arrangement and Description: Following established archival principles; the Archivist arranges files, ensures proper preservation and prepares finding aids which enable users to locate material. Must be able to safely lift up to 40 lbs.

Access and Reference: The Archivist manages both the policies and procedures by which internal and external community members may access and utilize the Archives.
Marketing and Communications: Promotes the hospital's archives program within and outside of the Cincinnati Children's community. Writes historical pieces for Library and community publications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • A Master's degree in Information Studies with a specialization in archives or a Master's degree in a related field and experience in the archives field
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in an archival environment
  • Ability to create and implement Archival policies and guidelines
Preferred:
  • Experience as an archivist in appraisal, acquisition, arrangement, processing, and description of records in all media
  • A thorough knowledge of archival theory and standards including Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS)
  • Experience coordinating and supervising volunteers
