Appraisal: The Archivist assesses materials with potential archival value based on the mission of the CCHMC Archives program.
Arrangement and Description: Following established archival principles; the Archivist arranges files, ensures proper preservation and prepares finding aids which enable users to locate material. Must be able to safely lift up to 40 lbs.
Access and Reference: The Archivist manages both the policies and procedures by which internal and external community members may access and utilize the Archives.
Marketing and Communications: Promotes the hospital's archives program within and outside of the Cincinnati Children's community. Writes historical pieces for Library and community publications.
A Master's degree in Information Studies with a specialization in archives or a Master's degree in a related field and experience in the archives field
Minimum of two years of professional experience in an archival environment
Ability to create and implement Archival policies and guidelines
Experience as an archivist in appraisal, acquisition, arrangement, processing, and description of records in all media
A thorough knowledge of archival theory and standards including Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS)
Experience coordinating and supervising volunteers
